(127) - (And the eminent among the people of Pharaoh said," Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land and abandon you and your gods?" [Pharaoh] said, "We will kill their sons and keep their women alive; and indeed, we are subjugators over them.")

Therefore, we know that the closest ones to Pharaoh were those who feared losing their authority. Furthermore, it is evident from this statement that Pharaoh refrained from doing any harm to Prophet Moses (PBUH) after this triumph since Pharaoh was still in awe of the powerful truth which he knew deeply that his divinity was completely false. He used to claim that there were gods in heavens and that he was the god of the earth, this is why notables of his people turned to him and said:

( أَتَذَرُ مُوسَىٰ وَقَوْمَهُ لِيُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَيَذَرَكَ وَآلِهَتَكَ ) (Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land): Meaning that ‘Prophet Moses (PBUH) had abandoned you and your beliefs’. As a matter of fact, Prophet Moses (PBUH) never worshiped Pharao, but they meant that he (PBUH) had abandoned Pharao and his authority as a god on earth had been shaken – according to what Pharao claimed to be – and they accused Prophet Moses (PBUH) of spreading corruption on earth and destroying their tyranny and the oppressive system against the people of Israel at that time. They portrayed themselves as being reformers, to which the Pharao replied with:

( سَنُقَتِّلُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ ) (We will kill their sons): Pharaoh had done this before. The reason for that was that the Children of Israel used to aid the kings of Hyksos against the Pharaohs. Hence, Pharaohs turned their wrath on them and exposed to having their sons killed and leaving the female children to suffer from humiliation.

( وَإِنَّا فَوْقَهُمْ قَاهِرُونَ) (and indeed, we are subjugators over them.): They believed to have the upper hand and to be the dominant force, so they will continue to kill the sons of the Children of Israel and subject their women to humiliation. This is what Pharaoh arrogantly declared, expressing his ruthlessness and tyranny.
