(29) - (O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.)

( يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن تَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ) (O you who have believed, if you fear Allah): Indeed, piety, or fear of Allah (swt), involves practicing all the requirements of faith outlined in the Holy Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (saws).

( يَجْعَل لَّكُمْ فُرْقَانًا ) (He will grant you a criterion): The Arabic word of (criterion) is used to distinguish between truth and falsehood. When we fear Allah (swt), He enables us to discern the right from the wrong, making us part of the righteous group who have no fear nor grief. Allah (swt) says:

(( 62 ) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve ( 63 ) Those who believed and were fearing Allah  ( 64 ) For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is what is the great attainment.) (Yunus)

( وَيُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ ) (and will remove from you your misdeeds): (Sins) are shortcomings in fulfilling religious obligations like praying, fasting, and such. Removing the misdeeds encompasses any wrongs committed against other human beings, which requires asking forgiveness from those people and giving them back their rights so that Allah (swt) would forgive the sin. Thus, fearing Allah (swt) grants you the ability to distinguish between right and wron, remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you.

(And Allah is the possessor of great bounty): Allah (swt) is bountiful and gracious to His (swt) creations.
