(26) - (And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful.)

( وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ أَنتُمْ قَلِيلٌ مُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ) (And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land): Allah (swt) is reminding the believers that they were a small minority suffering from oppression and persecuted from Mecca under the cover of darkness.

( تَخَافُونَ أَن يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ النَّاسُ فَآوَاكُمْ ) (fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you): (Abduction) is the act of taking something quickly. In this case, the believers had feared to be taken away because they had no power, support, or protection. But after that, Allah (swt) granted them stability in Al-Medina. So, it was not the Prophet’s (saws) own tribe or people in Quraish who protected him (saws).

( وَأَيَّدَكُم بِنَصْرِهِ) (supported you with His victory): Allah (swt) ensured support for the Prophet (saws) through the Ansar in Al-Medina Al-Munawwara, so that no one could claim that tribal and clan loyalties, which was prevalent in the Arabian Peninsula at that time, protected and aided the Messenger of Allah (saws). The true support was from Allah (swt), Who supported His Messenger (saws) from a place beyond expectations.

( وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ ) (and provided you with good things): Provision is not solely confined to food or wealth, it rather encompasses health and well-being, knowledge, and everything that Allah (swt) bestows upon His (swt) servants.

( لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ ) (that you might be grateful): Gratitude for blessings is the reason for its continuity. It is upon individuals to express gratitude to Allah (swt) for His (swt) blessings, as mentioned in the Holy Quran:

 وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ

(And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]) (Ibrahim: 7)

Here, it is a reminder from Allah (swt) about what happened in the Battle of Badr, where the victory was granted to the small group that accompanied the Messenger of Allah (saws).
