(27) - (O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.)

(O children of Adam): The speech still addresses all of mankind, beginning with Adam until Allah (swt) inherits the earth and all those  upon it.

( لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ كَمَا أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ الْجَنَّةِ ) (let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise): This is a warning for the children of Adam so as not to be seduced by Satan and fall into his temptation, for he is the enemy who caused our forefather to be driven away from Paradise.

( يَنزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْآتِهِمَا ) (stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts): It was not Satan’s intention that they become aware of their private parts, this is more of a result. He whispered to them to tempt them of disobedience and as a result, they lost their cover and were shown their private parts. It is the sin that made indecency become more prominent.

(Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them): (He) refers here to Satan. The danger of this enmity is that Satan sees us but we do not see him, for he is not seen and is created from fire while we are made from soil. The danger is bigger and stronger if the enemy sees us but we cannot see him.

( هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُ) (he and his tribe): This refers to Satan’s forces and his progeny, not that of mankind since we can see them. One might ask, “How did Adam (PBUH) disobey while he is a prophet and prophets are infallible to sins”? First, when Adam disobeyed, the laws that humans abide by on earth had not been exited yet. Second, he disobeyed before he was elected as a Prophet. He (PBUH) became a Prophet after he descended down to Earth. Allah (swt) says:

((121) And Adam and his wife ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred. (122) Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him].) (Taa-Haa)

The Prophecy was granted to Adam (PBUH) after he had repented, because if he had been in Paradise when he disobeyed and then repented after it, there would be no need to send him down to earth as long as Allah (swt) has accepted his repentance. This is an evidence that Adam was originally created for the earth so that he becomes Allah’s vicegerent on it, while the paradise he was in was to prepare him for that.

( إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا الشَّيَاطِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ) (Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe): One could ask: “How is it our fault if Allah (swt) made the devils as allies?”. For the disbelievers, the devils have thus power over them, while Allah (swt) says about the believers:

(Indeed, My servants – no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.) (Al-Hijr: 42)

Satan, may he be damned, does not have authority over the children of Adam, all he can do is to whisper and tempt them to commit sins.
