الآية رقم (69) - أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَن جَاءكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَاذكُرُواْ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاء مِن بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً فَاذْكُرُواْ آلاء اللّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

(69) - (Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you? And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah and increased you in stature extensively. So remember the favors of Allah that you might succeed.)

( أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَن جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ) (Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord): The reminder is the Message revealed upon Prophet Hud (PBUH).

( لِيُنذِرَكُمْ ) (that he may warn you): The mission of each Prophet is to deliver good news and to give warnings.

( وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِن بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ ) (And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah): This indicates that people of ‘Aad are the closest nation that came after the people of Prophet Noah (PBUH).

( وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً) (and increased you in stature extensively): Another new point mentioned in this verse about the people of ‘Aad is that Allah (swt) has endowed them powerful bodies to the extent that It was said that the tallest of them measured one hundred cubits in height, and the shortest was only sixty cubits. So, they were massive giants.

( فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ) (So remember the favors of Allah): He (PBUH) is asking them to remember Allah’s (swt) blessings upon them.

( لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ) (that you might succeed): to succeed.
