الآية رقم (10) - قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مَّنْهُمْ لاَ تَقْتُلُواْ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِي غَيَابَةِ الْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ السَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ

(10) - Said a speaker among them, "Do not kill Joseph but throw him into the bottom of the well; some travelers will pick him up - if you would do [something].

( قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ…) (Said a speaker among them): One of the brothers suggested another idea.

(… لَا تَقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ…) (“Do not kill Joseph): They were afraid for their father’s heart

(… وَأَلْقُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ…) (but throw him into the bottom of the well): The suggestion was to throw him (PBUH) in the dark depths of a well.

(… يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ السَّيَّارَةِ…) (some travelers will pick him up): The travelers are those passing the road

(... إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ ) ( if you would do [something].”):  As if this brother of suggestion says that it Is not right to commit a crime and kill their brother. Here, the dialogue among Yusuf’s brothers ended, and the story immediately shifts to the brothers standing before the Prophet Ya’qub (PBUH), trying to deceive him.
