( قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ…) (Said a speaker among them…): One of the brothers suggested another idea.

(… لَا تَقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ…) (… “Do not kill Joseph…): They were afraid for their father’s heart

(… وَأَلْقُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ…) (… but throw him into the bottom of the well…): The suggestion was to throw him (PBUH) in the dark depths of a well.

(… يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ السَّيَّارَةِ…) (… some travelers will pick him up…): The travelers are those passing the road

(... إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ ) (…  if you would do [something].”):  As if this brother of suggestion says that it Is not right to commit a crime and kill their brother. Here, the dialogue among Yusuf’s brothers ended, and the story immediately shifts to the brothers standing before the Prophet Ya’qub (PBUH), trying to deceive him.
