(26 - 27) - [Joseph] said, "It was she who sought to seduce me." And a witness from her family testified. "If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars But if his shirt is torn from the back, then she has lied, and he is of the truthful

([Joseph] said, “It was she who sought to seduce me.”): Here, the governor of Egypt found himself faced with two conflicting statements.

(And a witness from her family testified.): The witness was one of her relatives, but the Quran does not mention who he was.

(27)  ) ( If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars (26) But if his shirt is torn from the back, then she has lied, and he is of the truthful ):  The witness had not seen the shirt, but he made an immediate judgment: if the shirt was torn from the back, then Yusuf (PBUH) was truthful and she was lying; and if it was torn from the front, then he was the liar and she was truthful.
