الآية رقم (29) - يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَـذَا وَاسْتَغْفِرِي لِذَنبِكِ إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ الْخَاطِئِينَ

(29) - Joseph, ignore this. And, [my wife], ask forgiveness for your sin. Indeed, you were of the sinful.

( يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَا...) ( Joseph, ignore this. And, [my wife],): The governor asked Yusuf (PBUH) not to speak about this matter, as his reputation and status are important, and he does not want the news to spread. Clearly, he acknowledged his wife’s mistake and tried to keep the matter secret.

(… وَاسْتَغْفِرِي لِذَنبِكِ…) (ask forgiveness for your sin): He knows that there is a Lord and a Planner of this universe, so he asked her to seek forgiveness for this sin.

(... إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ الْخَاطِئِينَ ) ( Indeed, you were of the sinful):  He acknowledged the mistake that Zulaikha had committed. This verse shows that he was concerned about the news spreading and placed the blame on his wife. Despite this, the news leaked out, as the palace was filled with servants and attendants.
