( قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا...) ( He said, “You will not receive food that is provided to you except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you…): He showed them some of the miracles that occurred with him. He did not answer their questions about the dreams directly but said: ‘Before the food arrives, I will know what type of food will come’.

(… ذَٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِي رَبِّي…) (… That is from what my Lord has taught me…): Yusuf’s (PBUH) found himself in prison with a large group of people, so he began to call them to Allah (swt), guiding them to his Lord (swt)

(…إِنِّي تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ…) (… Indeed, I have left the religion of a people…): These prisoners were from among these people, but out of politeness, he hinted at them without explicitly mentioning them.

(… مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ…) (…the religion of a people…):

(... لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَهُم بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ ) (…  who do not believe in Allah, and they, in the Hereafter, are disbelievers):  They Yusuf (PBUH) spoke about the people that they do not believe; while he means the prisoners.
