(18) - And they brought upon his shirt false blood. [Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe.

(And they brought upon his shirt false blood): It has been said that Ya’qub (PBUH) upon seeing the false blood stains on the shirt, deduced that the wolf had been clement to Yusuf (PBUH) since it had devoured Yusuf’s flesh without tearing his shirt. The brothers presented Yusuf’s shirt splattered with false blood.

([Jacob] said, “Rather, your souls have enticed you to something): Ya’qub (PBUH) had known that they were lying so he told them “Rather, you have beautified for yourselves a matter regarding Yusuf, so you did it’.

(so patience is most fitting): Patience can be most fitting when the person doesn’t complain.

(...  وَاللَّهُ الْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ ) ( even if we were truthful):  Meaning that with patience, one must seek help from Allah (swt).
