( الر…) (Alif, Lam, Ra…): This Surah start with the ‘discrete letters’, which we have previously shed light on during the interpretation of Surah Al-Baqarah.
(… تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ…) (… These are the verses of the clear Book…): The verses mean the “signs,” Allah says:
قَالَ إِن كُنتَ جِئْتَ بِآيَةٍ فَأْتِ بِهَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
( [Pharaoh] said, “If you have come with a sign, then bring it forth, if you should be of the truthful.”) (Al-A’raaf: 106)
They asked for a miracle.
When Allah (swt) mentions the word ‘book’, we should understand that it refers to the Holy Quran.
(... الْمُبِينِ ) (… the clear): Means it clarifies everything that human movement needs on Earth, Allah (swt) says:
مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِي الْكِتَابِ مِن شَيْءٍ
( We have not neglected in the Register a thing.) (Al-An’aam: 38)
