In this verse, there is an action and the feedback. The action is the righteous deed in the days gone by and the feedback is the reward of having delicious foods and drinks in the Hereafter, similar to Allah’s saying:
كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ
(“Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past.”) (Al-Haqqa: 24)
The reason for their pleasure is that they suffered and were oppressed and tortured a lot in the worldly life. Thus, their reward is to be delighted in the Hereafter.
(… هَنِيئًا… ) (…in satisfaction …): They will eat and drink in satisfaction, without being harmed or in need to medicine of digestion. The foods and drinks are delicious and they will enjoy them.
( بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ… ) (…for what you used to do.): The Arabic word of (to do) includes the action of the limbs like the hand, the leg, the eye and others. It also includes the actions of the heart, like belief, sincerity and tolerance. No one should think that he will be rewarded for just his heart’s actions. But, the actions of his limbs should also be considered, for he will be rewarded accordingly.
