Allah (swt) has made the earth container for people whether they are alive or dead. It contains living human beings on its surface and the dead underneath its surface. The one who ponders upon the word (container) will find something wonderful; out of the earth, the workers make the brick molds to build the houses. They make the cement to attach the bricks together and use trees to make the roofs of the houses. Furthermore, in this verse, we note a point relating to the gravity of the earth. The earth includes the human beings and does not leave them, as if they are connected to it; if they fall down, it will embrace them and they never get out of it. Even that, the earth contains the dead in their graves and does not abandon them till the Resurrection Day. Allah (swt) says
وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
(And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,) (Al-Infitar: 4)
أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُورِ
(But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered) (Al-‘Adiyat: 9)
