These people who preferred the worldly life, hasten to achieve its pleasures in every possible way even if it unlawful. They turn others from the Way of Allah (swt) and do not adhere to it, thinking that there is no accountability in the Hereafter. Thus, they neglect the Hereafter, they do not believe in its truth and leave working for it. In fact, this is the case of most of people. This verse addresses the disbelievers who used to work for the worldly life not for the Hereafter. The reason behind their denial of the Day of Judgement and disbelief in what was revealed to the Prophet (saws) is their great love to the worldly life,  so that they distracted themselves from the Hereafter.
