الآية رقم (3) - أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَلَّن نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ

(3) - Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

( أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ ) (Does man think ): Does the disbeliever think that Allah (swt) will not put his bones together even after they separated, decayed and mixed with dust, or even blown away by the wind? The Arabic verb (think) here comes in present form to indicate something that will happen in the future, which is the Second Blow in the Trumpet. This verb comes in the past form in another verse reading:

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ

(Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be tried?) (Al-‘Ankaboot: 2)

Meaning, do the people think that they can just say: ‘We believe’ without being tested? Al-Akhnas bin Shurayq Ath-Thaqafi said to the Prophet (saws) : ‘O Muhammad, tell me about the Day of Resurrection, when it will be and how it will be like’ When he (saws) told him, ‘Uday ibn Rabi’a, the allay of Banu Zuhra said: ‘Even if I saw that Day, I would never believe in you or in your Message, how can Allah put the bones back together? Thereupon, Allah (swt) revealed this verse and the next verse:
