الآية رقم (88) - لَـكِنِ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مَعَهُ جَاهَدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ لَهُمُ الْخَيْرَاتُ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

(88) - (But the Messenger and the believers with him strived with their wealth and their lives. They will have all the best, and it is they who will be successful.)

The absence of some of those with power, influence, and wealth from participating in fighting with the Messenger of Allah (saws) should not spread panic or sadness in the hearts of the believers. This is because Allah (swt) is with them, and they possess goodness; meaning, they have all that is encompassed by the term ‘good’.

(وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ) (And it is they who will be successful.): The successful one is the triumphant, the survivor, and the one who benefits from the outcome of his labor. The origin of the Arabic word translated into (successful) comes from the Arabic word meaning (to break open the land), because agriculture requires first ploughing the land. This is a task that humans undertake to bring forth crops as the reward for their hard work in this world. As for the believers, there is another reward in the Hereafter.
