(188) - (Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe.")

Allah (swt) wanted the Prophet (saws) to convey to people that he is merely a servant among the servants of Allah (swt), having no control over benefit or harm for himself except what Allah (swt) wills. Everything is tied to the divine will. The Prophet (saws) is human, experiencing illness, engaging in battles, achieving victories, facing defeats, and going through the conditions of humanity. If he knew the unseen, he would have avoided harm. This highlights the greatness of the Prophet’s (saws) honesty in conveying the Message of Allah (swt) in all his words.

(I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe): The role of the Prophet (saws) is to warn people of the punishment on the Day of Judgment and to give glad tidings to the obedient about Paradise. He (saws) is both a bearer of good news and a warner for those who believe in Allah (swt). Allah (swt) addresses the believers because they are the ones who received benefits from the warnings and glad tidings.
