(141) - (And [recall, O Children of Israel], when We saved you from the people of Pharaoh, [who were] afflicting you with the worst torment - killing your sons and keeping your women alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.)

( وَإِذْ أَنجَيْنَاكُم مِّنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ) (And [recall, O Children of Israel], when We saved you from the people of Pharaoh): This is the greatest favor from Allah (swt) upon the Children of Israel, that He (swt) saved them from the people of the Pharaoh who used to afflict them with cruel and terrible suffering.

( يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ ) ([who were] afflicting you with the worst torment): They burdened them with the worst torment and evil.

( يُقَتِّلُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ ) (killing your sons): This is the greatest blessings; Allah (swt) saved their sons from being killed by the Pharaoh’s people.

( وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ) (and keeping your women alive): It is the height of humiliation that they kill male children and spare females for the sake of servitude and pleasure.

( وَفِي ذَٰلِكُم بَلَاءٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ ) (And in that was a great trial from your Lord): This is a great test and trial from Allah (swt). It is the outcome of the test which actually matters, not the test itself. The test is an examination, so what matters is not the nature of the test or trial, but rather the result of it.
