(144) - (And of the camels, two and of the cattle, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allah charged you with this? Then who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah to mislead the people by [something] other than knowledge? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.".)

Allah (swt) makes it explicit in this verse whether He (swt) truly has permitted the male or female of any of these eight pairs of animals; sheep, goats, camels, and cows.

(Or were you witnesses when Allah charged you with this?): The word (charged) means Allah’s (swt) eternal command.

( فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا لِّيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ) (Then who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah to mislead the people by [something] other than knowledge?): It is all a matter of misguiding and misleading others. The most unjust are those who are deliberately lying about Allah (swt) and manipulate what He (swt) decreed as lawful (halal) or declared as unlawful (haram), whether it was about animals, crops, human beings, transactions, or acts of worship. Allah (swt) clarifies all these matters for us.

( لِّيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ) (to mislead the people by [something] other than knowledge?): They mislead people because they do not have any knowledge of what is lawful or unlawful, they pass their own rulings without providing any proof of their claims. Did they witness their Lord and see Him when He commanded them with these prohibitions?
