(128) - (And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term, which you appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing.".)

( وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا) (And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when He will gather them together): (The day) indicates that an event will happen on that day and in this verse, Allah (swt) describes that event as a calling to jinn by saying: (O company of jinn).

(يَحْشُرُهُمْ) (will gather them): They will all be gathered and called: (يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ قَدِ اسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ الْإِنسِ) (O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind): The Arabic word for (company) refers to a mixed group adapting and living together, such as a company of doctors, scientists …etc.

On the Day of Gathering, Allah the Almighty (swt) will call: (O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind): The jinn will be told: ‘You have tried to mislead and gain them on your side through temptation, whispering, and allurement’.

( وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَاؤُهُم مِّنَ الْإِنسِ) (And their allies among mankind will say): Allah (swt) tells us what their human allies will answer, those among the humans who took the devils of jinn as their allies and followed their path and temptations. Many Surahs reveal how the jinn will then reply to them. After the Judgement is given, Satan will say:

(And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, “Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment.”) (Ibrahim: 22)

Their human allies will answer again with:

(Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term, which you appointed for us). They will say: “There was a time where we made use of each other because we believed the delusions, they told us in the worldly life and the promises of the damned devil”. Indeed, Allah (swt) makes it clear that Satan’s promise is nothing but a delusion:

(And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them.” But Satan does not promise them except delusion.) (Al-Israa:64)

Allah (swt) also makes it quite clear that Satan is an enemy to mankind:

(Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.) (Fatir: 6)

Despite that, they have taken him as an ally, gathered around him and around evils of the worldly life.

Life has both good and bad, right and wrong. The evilness of it is represented by the devil who is the disobedient jinn and his human allies.

( وَبَلَغْنَا) (and we have [now] reached): They will say: “We have reached the destiny which you have chosen for us, O’ Allah (swt)”.

( أَجَلَنَا الَّذِي أَجَّلْتَ لَنَا) (our term, which you appointed for us): Everything will reach the end specified for it by Allah (swt).

Allah (swt) says:

(And for every nation is a [specified] term. So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].) (Al-A’raaf: 34)

(He will say, “The Fire is your residence”): The Hell will be their final place of residence.

( خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ) (wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills): To reside eternally either in Heaven or in Hell. However, according to this verse, there could be exceptions for eternal residence in Hell depending on the Will of Allah (swt), for He (swt) forgives whomever He (swt) wants to forgive.

Allah (swt) says:

(Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”) (Az-Zumur: 53)

Allah (swt) says that He (swt) forgives all sins for whomever He (swt) chooses, except for the sin of idolatry.

( إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ) (Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing): Allah (swt) ends the verses with one or two of His Attributes, which humans cannot reach its perfection. There can never be an equal nor a partner of Allah (swt) in any way; neither in His Attributes, nor Actions, nor Self. He is The Wise and puts all things in their rightful place. He is All-Knowing of the sins of His creatures, of their polytheism, of whom deserves to reside eternally in Hell, and who deserves to be taken out of it.
