( الْمَلَأُ ) (the eminent ones): The elite of ‘Ad who were arrogant.

( لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِمَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ ) (to those who were oppressed – to those who believed among them): They said to the believers who were being oppressed.

( أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَالِحًا مُّرْسَلٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ ) (Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord): They questioned them of how sure they were that Prophet Salih (PBUH) was sent from Allah (swt).

( قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ ) (Indeed we, in that with which he was sent, are believers): The believers affirmed their faith in what he was sent with.
