( قَالَ ادْخُلُوا فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُم مِّنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ فِي النَّارِ) (([Allah] will say, “Enter among nations which had passed on before you of jinn and mankind into the Fire.”): This is the inevitable destiny for all the nations who have disbelieved, and disobeyed Allah’s (swt) orders, and who were misguided and have misguided others.
( كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ أُمَّةٌ لَّعَنَتْ أُخْتَهَا ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا ادَّارَكُوا فِيهَا جَمِيعًا قَالَتْ أُخْرَاهُمْ لِأُولَاهُمْ رَبَّنَا هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَضَلُّونَا ) (Every time a nation enters, it will curse its sister until, when they have all overtaken one another therein, the last of them will say about the first of them “Our Lord, these had misled us): When those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed them, and they cut off from them the relationship. Allah (swt) presents to us a scene of the Day of Resurrection. When these nations enter Hellfire due to their injustice, tyranny, arrogance, and oppression, they enter it with nations who were before them of mankind and jinn. Each time a nation enters and sees the truth, punishment, and hellfire, they curse their sister (in disbelief). Once they are in Hell, the final nations of them will blame the first ones because they led them to misguidance; for had the former nations been believers, then the lateral too would have believed, but instead they followed the footsteps of the ones who came before them.
( فَآتِهِمْ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا مِّنَ النَّارِ) (so give them a double punishment of the Fire): The final nations will ask Allah (swt) to give the former nations double punishment because they, not only, disbelieved, rahter have misled them as well.
( قَالَ لِكُلٍّ ضِعْفٌ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَعْلَمُونَ) (He will say, “For each is double, but you do not know.”): They will both have double punishment, the former nations because they disbelieved, were arrogant and misguided others, while the final nations because they disbelieved, were misguided, followed and imitated others.
