The Prophet Noah (PBUH) addresses His Lord, telling Him that his people disobeyed him, although he (PBUH) knows for certain that Allah (swt) is fully Aware of what he and his people do, even before being sent as a Prophet. But, since Noah (PBUH) was sent as a Prophet to the people who worshipped idols like Wadd, Suwa’, Yaghoth, Ya’oq and Nasr besides Allah (swt); he is to inform Him (swt) of the outcome of his Message to clear himself of falling short in fulfilling his duties of notifying his people. In regard to the Message that was assigned to the Prophet Noah to deliver, Allah (swt) says:

 وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

(And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, “O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?”) (Al-Muminoon: 23)

The people of Noah (PBUH) rejected his Call and disobeyed him:

(… قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي) (Noah said, “My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me …): The Prophet Noah (PBUH) states that his people disobeyed him and denied his Call to the path of Guidance and Monotheism. Furthermore they:

(  وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا … ) (…and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss): The riffraff and the weak of the people followed their corrupted leaders and chieftains who possessed wealth, money and children which gave them enough power, strength and influence to stand in the face of Noah’s Call. Allah (swt) endowed them with wealth and children, yet they increased in disbelief which led them to loss in this worldly life and to ruin in the Hereafter.
