الآية رقم (24) - ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ لَن تَمَسَّنَا النَّارُ إِلاَّ أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ وَغَرَّهُمْ فِي دِينِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ

(24) - (That is because they say, "Never will the Fire touch us except for [a few] numbered days," and [because] they were deluded in their religion by what they were inventing.)

The Jews keep saying that they are the People Chosen by God and will be tortured only for few numbered days.

( وَغَرَّهُمْ فِي دِينِهِم مَّا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ ) (…and [because] they were deluded in their religion by what they were inventing): Delusion is when you seek what you don’t have out of greed. That’s why the devil deludes people because it makes them seek what they don’t have or deserve. This is like telling lies to Allah (swt), that is altering the Torah.
